Amazing restaurant that reflects the true Australian cuisine of today. Stunning fresh produce & ingredients expertly crafted & plated. The staff are well versed in the menu and clearly passionate about providing a relaxed and memorable experience. The fitout is stunning but understated and filled with light and fresh air. A must visit if you appreciate fine food without too much fuss.
An unforgettable birthday at Margaret - flawless from start to finish. The Emperor fish ceviche was light and vibrant, the Thai crab salad full of flavour, pink snapper cooked with care, and the dry aged sirloin was rich and tender. Every plate was spot on. Service and atmosphere matched the food - warm, professional, and perfect for a special occasion. Margaret is simply the best, outstanding on every level!
I’ve been to Margaret many times and it never disappoints. The food is always delicious, with creative flavors that blend influences from different cuisines. Seafood is super fresh, beef is top quality, and the atmosphere is perfect for both dates and group dinners. One of my go-to spots in Sydney!
There are not enough stars available here for a true expression of how good Margaret is! We spent a weekend in Sydney for a special occasion a few weeks ago, and visited each of the Holy Trinity that is the three restaurants of legendary chef Neil Perry’s Double Bay enclave of fine dining and wonderful food: this one Margaret, Next Door, and we said goodbye to Songbird with a final dinner before it’s being re-imagined as Gran Torino. Many thanks for our dining experiences…we loved it! Chef is a firm favourite and we have never been disappointed or come away with anything but an elevated opinion of all aspects of the experience: freshest and best produce, obvious great talents, exceptional service and a lovely location all combined to make dining special. The photos show our choices. If you cannot get a table at Margaret, try Next Door. Exceptional food…great dining.
Amazing night at Margaret. The service was exceptional from Sara to Sommelier. The food was tasty and in good sizes. The wine was also top with a lovely Barolo. 100% coming back when in Sydney next!
I deliberately visit 3-5 top restaurants each week, and I’m on a mission to find Sydney’s best, with restaurants absolutely knocking it out of the park! And this time, I chose Margaret with high expectations for their renowned steak. I was not disappointed—the steak was cooked exactly to my preferred style and was incredibly satisfying. However, the real standout was their Mushroom Pie, hands-down the best pie I’ve ever had in Australia. The buttery richness filled my mouth with every bite, almost as if the pie was beckoning me to savor it. Beyond the steak, the Artichoke & Parsnip side dish exceeded all expectations with its delightful flavor. While I came for the food, I was equally impressed by the restaurant’s attention to detail, which sets a high-end establishment apart. The staff’s attitude, tone, and attentiveness were exceptional—better than many hotels I’ve experienced. They consistently checked on guests with care, though some might find it a bit much. I also appreciated the thoughtful touch of noting on the menu which dishes might take longer to prepare. These small details made the experience truly special. Pricey, but worth every penny. 100% will return!
We were very excited to try the World’s 2nd best Steak restaurant. Very polished yet relaxed dining. Amazing produce and quality. Attentive staff. We found the seafood dishes amazing. Side dishes like the peas were delicious & interesting. The steaks as much as we were excited were underwhelming unfortunately. The cuts available on the night (Sunday) were also disappointing, the good ones must have been sold out on the Saturday night. 2nd best in the world?? Drinks and wine is very expensive! And a Sunday surcharge on top, ouch. Overall a very expensive night out for a special occasion. Glad we visited but unlikely to return.
